The rapid growth of the renewable energy sector requires a rigorous approach to safety, efficiency and compliance with EU and national legislation. ICR Polska supports investors, EPC contractors and owners of power generation units in the process of bringing energy infrastructure into line with current technical standards.
As an independent certification body, we provide comprehensive technical supervision at every stage of an energy project’s lifecycle – from the analysis of project documentation, through final acceptance tests, to operational audits. We have divided our services for the energy sector into two main pillars, which complement one another:
- Expert Reports and Technical Opinions: Advanced documentation analysis, assessment of compliance with technical requirements (EU Regulations, EU directives, IEC and EN standards) and support in the process of obtaining connection conditions, taking into account the NC RfG requirements for generation units;
- Inspections of Premises and Installations: On-site physical audits of investment projects, technical acceptance inspections, and verification of the actual condition of solar and wind farms and energy storage facilities.
Expert Reports and Technical Opinions (Renewable Energy Sources)
The investment process in the energy sector is based on complex documentation and stringent standards. Technical assessments carried out by ICR Polska are designed to verify the theoretical and design aspects of installations before any physical risks arise or delays occur in connection to the grid. Our opinions provide essential technical support for design offices, technology importers and companies applying for connection conditions.
Our expertise covers the analysis of energy generation and storage technologies, including:
- Verification of single-directional and bidirectional photovoltaic inverters for use with energy storage systems and large-scale PV farm projects.
- Assessment of wind turbines (synchronous and asynchronous systems with converter circuits) in terms of grid stability.
- Analysis of energy storage systems using bidirectional inverters.
- Validation of hybrid solutions which connect various sources of electricity generation.
Why should you commission us to carry out an expert assessment? Our documents minimise the risk of applications being rejected by Distribution System Operators (DSOs). We provide solid arguments in disputes with equipment suppliers and support insurance processes with reliable analysis of equipment compliance with European market standards.
Energy Infrastructure Inspections
Inspections and Technical Audits of Renewable Energy Systems
Even the best-designed power system requires rigorous verification during both the construction and operational phases. Technical inspections by ICR Polska These are activities carried out directly on site. Our engineers physically inspect the condition of the infrastructure, ensuring its safety, efficiency and compliance with the design documentation previously submitted.
What do our inspections cover? We carry out on-site audits of critical and commercial infrastructure facilities. We inspect generation units that are in the commissioning phase, as well as those already in operation. Our activities include:
- Photovoltaic farms with energy storage facilities: assessment of the installation of support structures, cable routes, transformer stations and fire safety measures.
- Wind turbines: inspection of the technical condition of turbines, generators, control systems and machinery safety systems (in accordance with the Machinery Directive).
- Large-scale energy storage systems (BESS): audits of cooling systems, electrical safety systems and integration with the distribution network.
Why do we carry out inspections?
- Factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT) and final acceptance tests (Commissioning): Independent confirmation that the main contractor (EPC) has completed the project in accordance with good building practice and the design, which is a prerequisite for the payment of financial instalments.
- Technical due diligence: Assessment of the condition of the infrastructure and the risk of failure prior to the purchase or sale of a renewable energy farm.
- Insurance and post-warranty audits: An inspection carried out for insurance companies to verify that a property is being used correctly or to determine the extent of damage following breakdowns (e.g. power surges, fires).
How do we carry out the inspection process?
-
- Initial analysis: We verify the approved technical documentation, calculations, electrical diagrams and the distribution system operator’s requirements for the site in question.
- On-site audit: Our inspectors carry out an on-site inspection. They carry out inspection of the installation, verification of connections, assessment of safety measures and detection of installation faults.
- Reporting: The process concludes with the publication of an official inspection report. The document contains clear conclusions, photographic documentation, a list of non-conformities and recommendations for corrective action, which are essential for the safe operation of the vessel.
