The scope of directive RED are covered by devices (electric or electronic) that deliberately emit or receive radio waves for telecommunications or radiolocation purposes, and devices that must be supplemented with an additional element (eg an antenna) so that it can intentionally emit or receive radio waves for the needs of radiocommunication or radiolocation.
The radio equipment should be constructed to ensure health and safety protection, including the implementation of objectives related to the requirements for:
- safety - in Directive 2014/35/EU, but without applying the voltage limit,
- an appropriate level of electromagnetic compatibility should be provided in accordance with Directive 2014/30/EU,
- the design of this device should be designed in such a way as to avoid harmful interference by effectively using radio spectrum and to support its efficient use.
Directive 2014/53/EU does not apply to radio equipment used exclusively for purposes related to public security, defense, state security, including state economic prosperity in the case of actions concerning state security issues and state actions in the scope of criminal law.
The EU Type Examination Certificate is a summary of the positive mandatory assessment of a product within the scope of the Radio Equipment Directive.
